There’s nothing like summer (or spring, winter or fall) in the Hudson Valley — it’s a great place to hike, boat, relax and enjoy the great outdoors. Arguably there is nowhere better to enjoy all of these great Hudson Valley experiences (and more!) than the next stop on our Venue Series tour: Mohonk Mountain House.
Located just 90 miles from New York City, Mohonk Mountain House is a historic, luxury resort nestled in nearly 40,000 acres of pristine forest.
The Amenities
Mohonk Mountain House boasts over 250 guest rooms of all shapes and sizes, making it the perfect setting for a destination wedding of any size. Meals and a wide assortment of activities (hiking, boating, campfires, swimming, lawn games and more) are included with your guests’ stay, and there is a full-service spa, a golf course, rock climbing, horseback riding and more available, so your guests can design their perfect active or relaxing weekend away.
One especially convenient perk – the full service salon and spa services wedding couples, so your hair, makeup, facial and stress-relieving needs can all be taken care of onsite.

The Spaces
Whether you’re planning a wedding for 200 or 20 guests in the spring, summer, fall or winter, Mohonk has a space that is perfect for your wedding.
The gardens on the grounds provide a stunning backdrop for wedding ceremonies, with nature-filled flower scapes and views of the surrounding hills and mountains.

In the event of rain or inclement weather, Mohonk has you covered — your ceremony takes place in the stately Victorian Parlor that overlooks Lake Mohonk.

It’s hard to imagine a more idyllic setting for a cocktail hour than the Parlor Porch, overlooking Lake Mohonk and the extensive property. This space is also available for smaller dinner party events.

For larger receptions on the grounds, the Pavilion is an ideal setting. Used for ice skating in the colder months of the year, the open-air Pavilion has high ceilings, a large fireplace feature and sweeping views of the property on nearly all sides.

Mohonk also has venues for intimate and winter weddings, including their west dining room.

The Photo Ops
From Sarma’s perspective, one thing that Mohonk has in spades are photo ops. From a “first look” on the boat dock on Lake Mohonk to couple’s portraits along the scenic walkways all over the property, there is no end to the stunning, nature-filled backdrops available for wedding photos at Mohonk Mountain House.

The Nostalgia
Another perk of having a wedding at Mohonk? The ability to celebrate anniversaries for years to come in such a special, serene place.

The consensus – Sarma and I loved our time at Mohonk Mountain House. It’s gorgeous, scenic, has LOADS of amenities for guests, and at just 90 minutes from NYC, makes the perfect weekend-away wedding destination. Is Mohonk Mountain House your dream venue? Get in touch with the team today!
